Meganisi (38o39’29.15’’N – 20o46’33.10’’E)
Meganisi is a picturesque tiny island in the Ionian Sea, 4 miles to the northeast of the island Lefkada (Lefkas). It's also the biggest one in a complex of such little islands as Skorpios, Skorpidi, Thilia, Kythros and others, which form the Municipality of Meganissi (Tafion). This rare combination of land and sea together with the natural and variform virgin beauty of the islands is unique in Greece.
Here are to be found the three picturesque villages and main settlements Vathi, Katomeri and Spartochori, each one having kept its own character and loveliness. Their traditional architecture, the picturesque harbors with the fish taverns, the captivating view, the bright green scenery and the crystal clear sea will make you remember times that have gone, since tourism hasn't left its evidence here yet. The hospitable people, their peaceful way of living, the interchange of the scenery, pleasure and the special food create an ideal place for vacation.
Ai-Giannis, Spilia, Ambelaki, Fanari, Atherinos and Limonari are the best known beaches of the island, whereby a visit to the grottos Papanikoli and Giovanni is also worth.
