Vonitsa (38o55’09.58’’N – 20o53’20.42’’E)

Vonitsa is built near the entrance of the Ambracian Gulf. It is the base of the perfecture of Anactorio, which has been inhabited by the Korinthians during the 630 b.C (some parts of the Anactorion can still be distinguished into the sea across the seaside).It become of great significance during the period of the Despotato of Epirus, due to its position , able to control the sea area towards Aktio. Above Vonitsa lies its magnificent casttle.
